Starting this year, the district is requiring students to pay a Tech Fee for all students. A Tech Fee for the year is $30, and acts as insurance if something were to happen to a student’s device. If a student does not pay the tech fee, then they will be responsible for the full cost of any repairs that may occur if their device is damaged.
If you have an outstanding Tech Fee, you should be receiving an invoice from your child’s teacher. Even if you can not make the payment in full, any partial payment helps. If you need assistance please contact your child’s teacher or the school directly.
Additionally, if you know of any civic organization, business, or you yourself would like to donate to help pay for students who might not be able to pay their Tech Fee, you can send in a donation with a note stating that the payment is a donation toward Tech Fees and Lunch Charges. If you are writing a check, make it out to Scotts Elementary with Tech Fee/Lunch Charges Donation in the memo.
Currently Scotts has an outstanding balance of $2000 in Tech Fees. Thank you for your consideration.
Before the Winter Break, the Statesville Home Depot provided students with boat workshop kits. Students worked on their boats during their enhancement times and were able to take their craft home. Scotts A+ wants to thank Statesville Store Manager Shannon Campbell, and everyone at Home Depot for providing a great opportunity for the students.
Home Depot also offers Kids Workshops in store through out the year. For more information on these workshops click HERE.

*From the District
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The 2022-2023 year brings new changes from the Digital Teaching and Learning Department with regard to the district’s 1:1 device model for all K-12 students. In our role to support instructional technology for Iredell Statesville Schools, our team has spent the previous year working with various vendors to provide the students of Iredell County with the best possible technology equipment, software, teacher training, and resources to support their academic and classroom needs.
Effective July 1st all K-12 students will be required to pay the annual non-prorated $30 technology fee. Approved by the Board of Education, this fee includes accidental damage insurance on the devices, continual improvements to our network infrastructure, technician support at all sites, access to subscription databases, as well as coverage by our Lightspeed filter, Classroom Management Software and more. This fee can be paid online via a link on your child’s school webpage.
In addition to the required technology fee, all K-12 students will be exposed to a digital citizenship curriculum at device deployment and throughout the school year. This new requirement ensures that all students understand the impact and consequences when using a device and accessing the Internet. From device care to personal data protection students will learn about their role and responsibilities in a digital-age learning model.
Another change for the 2022-2023 school year will be a centralized deployment of devices for all 9-12 students who attend our traditional high schools, IB high schools, ISSVA, iAcademy, and Pressly. This 4 day event will take place August 15th - August 18th at the Career Academy and Technical School in Troutman. More details will be provided and posted on all school social media sites and webpages, but mark your calendars now. Our early colleges, middle schools, and elementary schools will manage the deployment of their devices on site at their campuses.
It is the DTL policy that students will not receive a device for use in the 2022-2023 school year until all requirements have been met. This includes payment of the technology fee, a signed Acceptable and Responsible Use Policy form by a legal guardian, the return of any summer device in the student’s possession, clearance of all previous invoices with regard to device loss or damage, and proof that the student has viewed the introductory digital citizenship video.
The chart below provides detailed information about the devices used by the students of Iredell Statesville Schools, as well as an explanation of the insurance coverage. Instead of families receiving an itemized invoice for damages they will be charged by the following fee structure (per year) for accidental damages:
Instance #1 - covered by initial tech fee
Instance #2 - $30
Instance #3 - $30
Each additional instance per school year will be $30
Damages not covered by insurance will be invoiced to the student at repair/parts cost.

We know this is an exceptionally hectic time - which makes it even more important that we raise our voices in support of extending school nutrition program waivers for schools facing acute supply chain disruptions, persistent labor shortages and escalating costs. Currently, waivers will expire June 30th resulting in devastating consequences for these programs and the hungry students that rely on them.
The Support Kids Not Red Tape Act:
- Extends USDA's waiver authority through September 30, 2023.
- Directs states to submit a transition plan to USDA so that schools will be prepared and supported when transitioning back to normal National School Lunch Program operations after the waivers end.
- Directs the Secretary of Agriculture to provide technical assistance to states on drafting transition plans and to School Food Authorities on meeting meal standards during the waiver period.
- Prevents schools from being penalized for not meeting meal pattern requirements during the waiver period if the violations are due to supply chain disruptions.
Scotts A+ Elementary would like to congratulate Debbie Marlowe (Bus Driver & Custodian) and Crystal Autrey (Kindergarten Teacher) for being selected as the March Staff of the Month.
